Two of our youth players, Roisin O'connor (Girl's U18) and Patrick O'Connor (U14), attended the IRFU National Youth Consultation Day held on Nov 12th 2016 at The Herbert Park Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin. This was an opportunity to bring 100 young people together to gather their thoughts on rugby in 2016 and beyond. Afterwards they attended the Ireland v Canada match at the Aviva. The IRFU will use information gathered at this consultation day to help clubs accross Ireland launch a Youth Comittee at their club. Shortly, Birr RFC will be one of the the first clubs to pilot this scheme with the help and assistance of Ann Marie Hughes (IRFU National Safeguarding Officer) and Katie Fitzhenry(Safeguarding Officer, IRFU).
