BIRR RFC INVITE APPLICATIONS FOR POSITION OF CCRO

Birr RFC are inviting applications for the position of Club Community Rugby Officer (CCRO) starting January 2024.

The CCRO, working in under the guidance of the Community Rugby Officer (CRO) work with clubs, schools and community groups to deliver tailored rugby programmes and expand the game of rugby within the clubs and schools of the province.

The role comprises of working with clubs, schools and community groups to deliver tailored rugby programmes and expand the game within the clubs and schools in the area.

The post is a fixed term contract to end of season 2023/24 with working hours of 20 hours per week. This is a highly flexible job.

 

Role and Purpose of Position:

Support club volunteers to increase the number of male and female players. Ensure that clubs have the appropriate capacity and capability to increase the number of participants and effectively engage with the local community.

There is a requirement for the individual to work closely with clubs / schools/community groups and Birr RFC on an ongoing basis to identify needs and opportunities.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for a geographical region and/or a cluster of clubs, schools, and community groups in the area.
  • Responsible for growing the game in identified clubs and schools. This equally applies to both the male and female disciplines of the game.
  • Maintain up to date records of all clubs and their status/progress against agreed Rugby Operational Development Plans
  • Identify potential feeder schools for clubs, and initiate interaction with schools. Prioritise schools for a rugby development programme and as required deliver these programmes (e.g., organise a block schedule to include coaching sessions, courses as per individual school needs).
  • Under the leadership of the CRO, deliver Blitzes/Extravaganzas, etc.
  • Have a basic knowledge of support documents / templates available to clubs
  • Work with clubs so that they will benefit from provincial programmes to develop and recognise volunteers.
  • As required, implement seminars/workshops to increase the knowledge and expertise of volunteers.
  • Facilitate the operation of summer camps as requested.
  • Facilitate projects as determined by the Domestic Rugby Manager.
  • Applications should include a detailed CV with relevant work experience/history within coaching or working with young children and should include references.
